About Alta Crystal Resort

Alta Crystal Resort operates within the Mt. Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest under a special use permit.

We are located just outside the northeast entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park and just 7 1/2 miles below the Crystal Mountain ski area (about a 10-15 minute drive).  We are open year-round and accessible year-round from Enumclaw.

GPS directions to our location are often not accurate, so please use our directions to supplement your GPS!

YEAR-ROUND DIRECTIONS

Special note for Chinook Pass this summer:  This only affects travelers coming from the East (Yakima and Naches) from approximately July 21-October 2014.  The DOT is doing repairs on this highway and it will essentially be closed Monday-Thursday from 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and from 6 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Friday.  It will be open Saturday and Sunday.  There is an alternate route via Highway 12 to Highway 123.  See below.  You can also call the Chinook Pass Construction Hotline (509) 577-1944. 

Directions from Enumclaw (year-round): Follow highway 410 East for 32 miles from the intersection with Highway 164 (Safeway Shopping Center) and Griffin Ave. You will find us on the left between mile markers 55 & 56. Please keep to the left as you come up our drive and to the Reception office.

Directions from SeaTac Airport, Seattle and Points North (year-round):  Please take I-5 south to exit 142-A Hwy 18 east toward Auburn. Off of 18 take Hwy 164 East and drive toward and through the town of Enumclaw. At the intersection of Hwy 410 and Griffin Ave. take a left onto 410. Continue on 410 East for approximately 32 miles into the mountains and you will find us on the left between mile markers 55 and 56. Please keep to the left as you come up our drive and to the Reception office.

Directions from Tacoma and I-5 (year-round): Take Exit 127 in Lakewood onto Highway 512 East for 9 miles into Puyallup. Highway 512 ends, exit right onto Highway 410 East for about 24 miles into Enumclaw.  Follow highway 410 East for 32 miles from the intersection with Highway 164 (Safeway Shopping Center) and Griffin Ave. You will find us on the left between mile markers 55 & 56. Please keep to the left as you come up our drive and to the Reception office.

Directions from the Eastside & I–405 (year-round): Take Route 169 South (Renton- Maple Valley exit) and follow for 25 miles south into Enumclaw. Turn left onto 164 (Griffin Avenue) for 1 mile. Turn left onto Highway 410 East and drive 32 miles into the mountains.  You will find us on the left between mile markers 55 & 56. Please keep to the left as you come up our drive and to the Reception office.

Directions from Renton/ Kent/ Auburn (year-round): Follow Highway 167 South to Highway 18 East. Take 18 East for 1 mile, exit right onto Highway 164 Auburn / Enumclaw Road. Stay on 164 for 15 miles into Enumclaw. Make a left onto Highway 410 East and drive 32 miles into the mountains.  You will find us on the left between mile markers 55 & 56. Please keep to the left as you come up our drive and to the Reception office.

Driving directions from Port Orchard (year-round): Please take Hwy 16 south and east to Tacoma and across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and then over to I-5 south. Off of I-5 south take Exit 127 in Lakewood onto Highway 512 East for 9 miles into Puyallup. Highway 512 ends, exit right onto Highway 410 East for about 24 miles into Enumclaw and follow 410 into the mountains approx. 32 miles. You will find us off of 410 on the left between mile markers 55 and 56. Please keep to the left as you come up our drive and to the Reception Office.

SUMMER DIRECTIONS FROM THE SOUTH AND FROM EASTERN WASHINGTON

Directions from Mt. Rainier National Park:(Summer) Take Highway 123 North over Cayuse Pass. Turn left at intersection with Highway 410. After 8 miles you will exit the park. We are almost 2 miles outside the Park on the right side just past mile marker 56.

Directions from Portland (Summer): Follow I–5 North for about 75 miles until the Highway 12 East exit (Mossyrock). Follow 12 East for 72 miles and exit left onto Highway 123 North into Mt. Rainier National Park.  Take Highway 123 North over Cayuse Pass. Turn left at intersection with Highway 410. (DO NOT GO EAST TOWARDS YAKIMA.) After 8 miles you will exit the park. Go past the Crystal Mountain sign.  (DO NOT TURN.)  We are about 1 1/2 miles outside the Park on the right side just past mile marker 56. 

Directions from Yakima and points East (Summer): Follow Highway 12 West for 70 miles and exit right onto Highway 123 North and follow directions from Mt. Rainer National Park.
Alternative from Yakima: Chinook Pass (Summer)  From Highway 12 West exit onto Highway 410 West just past Naches and follow for 51 miles into Mt. Rainer National Park.  Stay right at intersection with Highway 123. After 8 miles you will exit the park. We are almost 2 miles outside the Park on the right side just past mile marker 56. 

WINTER DIRECTIONS FROM THE SOUTH AND EASTERN WASHINGTON

Please note:  Both Chinook Pass (Highway 410) and Cayuse Pass (Highway 123) through Mt. Rainier National Park are now open for Summer 2014!

Directions from Portland (Winter): Take I-5 North for 125 miles to the Lakewood exit and follow the directions for Tacoma and I-5 (via Highway 512).

Directions from Yakima and Eastern Washington (Winter): Take Highway 82 North to Ellensburg and take I-90 West over Snoqualmie Pass. Exit onto Highway 18 West and Follow 18 to Maple Valley and exit onto 169 South. Pick up directions from the Eastside at this point into Enumclaw.
