Crystal Mountain Hiking
There are wonderful places to hike at Crystal Mountain once the snow melts. There are literally dozens of trails, but here are a few of our favorites. (Note: most of the trails at Crystal are steep so this is probably not the best choice for kids.)
Henskin Lake: This is a gorgeous alpine lake in an area known as Silver Basin (which also happens to be a great place to ski in the winter). Many people like to fly fish here in the summer.
Norse Peak Trail: This trail climbs steeply up the East Peak side of Crystal Mountain to an old lookout site. There are great views across the valley of the ski area and Mt. Rainier.
Bullion Basin Trail to the Pacific Crest Trail: This is a pretty awesome trail. You’ll share it with horses in the summer, but it takes you to some incredible views of Mt. Rainier. Bullion Basin itself is a basin (duh), with gorgeous flowers and a natural spring that bubbles up right from the ground. From Bullion Basin, you can actually intersect with the Pacific Crest Trail, and go up to Henskin Lake and come back down from there. A good workout!Website: http://www.crystalmountainresort.com
