Ask anyone who lives around here, and they’ll tell you Sunrise is their favorite area of Mt. Rainier National Park.  It’s the highest point to which you can drive in all the Cascades (6400’)—with awesome panoramic views and great hikes.  It is also much more exposed than Paradise, and tends to melt out really quickly once summer arrives.

In fact, we took a quick jaunt up to Sunrise yesterday to see the snow melt for ourselves.  Last week, we sent some people snowshoeing by the Visitors Center—and this week, the area called Sourdough Ridge is almost all melted out!  Several… Read Full Story

Cayuse Pass is now open!

Come up and visit Mt. Rainier!  The Pass opened today (May 8) and noon, and even though there’s still lots of snow at the summit, you’ll be amazed at how little snow there is at this entrance and in the Ohanapecosh area.  Can you say hiking anyone?!
