A wonderful week skiing at Crystal Mountain

Fri Feb 12, 2010

The skiing just keeps getting better and better.

We managed to get out skiing 2 days this week, and 2 days last week—and had some of our best days ever at Crystal Mountain.  We know it’s been a mild winter down in town, but Crystal is high enough that the snow just keeps on coming—and it’s marvelous.

The groomers have been great all winter (the grooming crew has been doing an incredible job this season)—but we’ve spent a lot of time off-piste for the past 4 weeks.  The snow is soft, the temperatures have been cold, and it seems Crystal has been picking up about a foot of new snow every week.

Last week, we started out on the groomers (Downhill, Upper Ferks, Middle Ferks, Magoo, Rolling Knolls, West Face, Green Valley) for our warm-up and then headed up High Campbell for a few runs down Powder Bowl and over to Northway for lots and lots of exploring.  Bruce’s Bowl, Paradise Bowl, Northway Bowl, Morning Glory Bowl, Brand X—all were nice and soft with powder!

A side benefit of going over to Northway was being able to catch some of the North Face Snowboarding Masters. The athletes are incredible.  We got goosebumps just watching them climb up the cliffs for their jumps.  Yikes!

Anyway, do yourselves a favor and get up here!  There’s still lots of skiing left this season, and we have openings starting February 21, our midweek rates and packages are incredible,  and our Spring every day packages start March 15.  Happy skiing everyone!
